Finally got around to playing this - just didn't get enough time within the jam. I was part of the team that made Dreamweaver. Since my teammates had already played and rated this, I spent my time playing games with lower ratings. But I always intended to play this once I had some time.

I'm writing this after having played 2m and 39s of the game. First of all, the level design is immediately great, but honestly I'm guessing you've already got all the feedback you need on the technical elements. So instead, all I'll say is that this is one of the few submissions I've played that really truly hits the mark on what it means to be a game (at least as per my definition). You've put real effort in cutscenes, dialogue, story, start screen, menu options etc - that's (to me) when a game really becomes a "game" and not just a mechanics showcase. It took just 2m and 39s to make it clear that you really wanted me, the player, to actually experience something.

TL;DR - Meteora is a real game, not a jam submission. Honestly I don't even feel like rating or judging it. I feel like putting on some earphones and just diving into it.

I understand you guys have taken part in previous MVMs as well. I intend to take part once again in the next MVM, and if you guys plan to join as well, it would be great to see both our games lined up against each other once again.

Hello,

We really liked and sincerely acknowledge the huge efforts your team made to make Dreamweaver; it is a real piece of love and dedication and the result was outstanding. Congratulations for that!

Thank you so much for the kind words on Meteora, and most importantly for taking the time to play it one month after the Jam! We had a big scope in mind while designing it and we are glad you liked it. Of course, there is always room for improvement for games done in one month. All in all, your positive review and your impression of the game really means a lot to us.

Indeed I would love to see more of your work in future Jams or elsewhere.

Keep in touch.

Cheers

I rarely get invested in an mv story, especially if it tries to be serious, but this little game surprised the hell out of me by making me care! By the end I got sentimental and called my bro: )
On a technical side, I wish there was a way to disable analogue input for aiming, as it was jumping all over the place due to my controller's smaller-than-usual dead zone. Had to add the game to Steam and increase the artificial dead zone using Steam Input.

Hello,

Wow, thank you that great feedback, we feel honored! Hope you also liked the MC mobility, the gameplay abilities, the music and the level design as well.

We will take note regarding the analogue input for aiming.

Glad you enjoyed the time playing,

Cheers

super fun! Loved how you incorporated both Ori bash and Aeterna Noctis teleport arrow mechanics. Always nice to see a completed MV on here.

Hello,

We are glad that you played and you liked it. It is great when someone understands our inspirations :) The Boss attacks also has inspirations from Aeterna Noctis.

The last ability that you got was Teleport? There is a sequence break to acquire it earlier in the game.

Had the sense of exploration and progression the right intensity in your opinion? Did you get too lost, or was the map overwhelming for you?

Thank you for your time and interest!

Cheers

It was honestly pretty perfect. I definitely hit a few walls but always found my way.

Got this while scrolling through Itch and didn't even realise this was made by in part by you EelShep! Really well put together game as per usual! :)

I will say, I did feel like the enemies were a bit lackluster, which is definitely something that could be worked on a bit with maybe some more variety and all that jazz, especially for a Metroidvania. But other than that, a solid game!

Hey um... How do I teleport to lightning? It shows the mouse but no buttons are selected.

Hello,

Sure! You can find the information in the "Abilities" section in the Pause Menu. It shows "LB" with controller, and "Q" for keyboard. Press once the button to activate teleport, aim with stick or mouse, then press the same button to throw the lightning, and again the same button to teleport to.

I kindly propose you to try again, explore with Teleport, and fight the Boss!

Cheers

ah, I see it now. Must have mistaken the Q button for the mouse. Oh what a fool I am.

This was a fun game. I liked it narritively and gameplay wise while pretty basic I liked how the upgrades worked and how everything came together in the end. Especially the teleport, I really liked that aspect when I finally unlocked it. I will say the enemies attacked very slowly and were easy to ignore, which on one hand I liked that I didn't have to be bogged down by fighting everything in my path, but when there were many enemies it didn't feel like it would bring about a challenge. Overall I would say 8/10. I hope to see what more what yall do in the future.

Hello,

Thank you so much for finishing the game and for the kind words. I agree with your point regarding the enemies. Like you, I don't like to be forced to fight every enemy in my way. We will adjust the balance to make them just a bit faster and challenging.

The last ability you got was the Teleport? There is a sequence break to find it earlier.

Just curious: did you get lost at some point? Did the sense of exploration have the right intensity during the progression? Did you encounter any difficulty peaks? What was your impression of the final Boss where using Teleport is important?

I appreciate your attention to our game,

Cheers
